Subscription links
Create extra named subscription links with an expiry next to your main link, revoke them one by one, and what the used-from-many-networks warning means.
A subscription link lets you use Colitu in another client (for example a router or a third-party app) instead of the Colitu app; see Manual configuration. Every account has one main link. Instead of handing the main link to everyone, you can create extra links, one for each device or app: when you revoke one, the others keep working.
Creating an extra link
- In your account open the Subscription page and go to Extra links.
- Click Create link.
- Give the link a name that reminds you which device or app it is for (for example "Phone" or "Office computer").
- If you like, choose 7 days, 30 days or 90 days under Valid until; otherwise the link has no time limit. A link that expires stops working by itself.
- The link is shown only once; copy it and do not share it with anyone.
You can create up to 5 extra links besides the main link. If you reached the limit, revoke one to create a new one.
Managing links
Each extra link shows its creation date, when it was last used and its expiry date.
- Revoke
the device or app that uses the chosen link can no longer connect right away. Your other links are not affected.
- Renew link
(main link): the old main link stops working immediately and a new link is shown; you have to enter the new link in the apps that use it. Your extra links are not affected.
Each link has its own connection credentials on the servers; see Device management.
The "used from many different networks" warning
If a link is used from many different networks in a short time, a warning appears next to it. It suggests that the link may have been shared or leaked. If you have not shared it with anyone, revoke the link (extra link) or renew it (main link).
Colitu stores no IP addresses for this warning: it only keeps an anonymous per-day count of how many different networks used each link, and deletes it after 48 hours.
