Colitu Android v2.8.0
What changed in this release
v2.8.0 Faster connections and a new server picker
Adaptive Connect 2.0 now truly picks the fastest server and a warm spare keeps your connection alive. A new Simple mode makes the app easier for new users.
New features
- Adaptive Connect 2.0: 'Fastest server' now really picks the fastest server by measuring ping on your network.
- It ranks servers in other countries before those in your own country and remembers which server worked on each network.
- Warm spare: while connected, a backup path is kept ready; if the main path fails, traffic moves to it within seconds.
- Faster connecting on difficult networks: the best two paths are tried at the same time, and in automatic mode the app moves to the next server if one fails.
- If a server you picked fails, a 'Try the fastest server' button appears.
- The connection is watched on every method, and the app reconnects by itself after an unexpected drop.
- Connection methods that most people on your network cannot use are tried last.
- Simple mode and Advanced mode: new installations start in Simple mode with only the essentials; one tap shows split tunnelling and other options.
- People updating the app keep what they had.
- Messages from Colitu inside the app, for example when you are close to your monthly data limit.
- Android TV: the same Simple mode and warm spare.
Performance improvements
- In a one-hour test with 11 deliberately injected failures, the connection was available 98.8% of the time.
- When the server in use was cut completely for 101 seconds, the user saw a pause of about 5 seconds.
