Colitu iOS v5.9.1

What changed in this release

  1. v5.9.1

Fewer drops, connection reports and security

This version reduces drops during long sessions, helps support resolve connection issues faster, and improves security.

    New features

    • Fewer drops on long sessions: the VPN uses less memory under heavy use, so iOS no longer has to stop it, and it recovers better after a network change or when the internet is briefly gone.
    • Connection reports for support: when our support team looks into a connection problem on your account, the app sends a connection report (app and device details, connection events and the app's own logs) the next time it opens. The names and addresses of the sites you visit are masked on your device before anything is sent, and masked again on our side; reports are deleted after 90 days.
    • When you open a support conversation with "attach diagnostics" on, the full connection report is attached automatically, so support can help without asking you for logs.
    • Support for a connection mode that changes ports regularly, which keeps speed up on mobile networks that slow down long-running connections.

    Bug fixes

    • The automatic connection check no longer uses a service that is slowed down in some regions, and no longer treats a dead connection as healthy.
    • Devices you removed no longer come back in the device list.
    • Clear messages when an account is waiting for a review or a sign-up is refused, instead of a generic error.
    • Your app language is now shared with your account, so e-mails, notices and support replies arrive in the language you use. Server and city names are shown in your language as well.
    • Locations have calmer, roomier rows; pings are not measured through the tunnel.
    • Security hardening from independent audits.
    • Updated connection engine and libraries.
    • Connections on long sessions are steadier: a server-side fix stops an unfinished upload (for example an aborted speed test) from freezing the fast connection mode; this helps every app version, including this one.
